

NIZWA: The Higher Institute of the Judiciary in Nizwa has welcomed a new batch of 19 male and female Public Prosecution assistants to the Postgraduate Diploma in Judicial Sciences (Public Prosecution Division), as part of efforts to strengthen national competencies and enhance the efficiency of Oman’s judicial system.
Dr Nabhan bin Rashid al Maawali, Dean of the Higher Institute of the Judiciary, said the institute remains committed to providing an integrated academic and training environment that equips students with essential legal knowledge and practical skills. He also praised the efforts of the Supreme Judicial Council in supporting the sector with qualified national talent.
The reception programme included an introductory session on academic courses and regulations, along with a field tour of the institute’s facilities, including classrooms, the library and technical support amenities.
The specialised postgraduate diploma programme spans two years, with the first year dedicated to advanced theoretical studies in legal disciplines and the second focused on practical training within Public Prosecution departments to strengthen applied skills and familiarity with criminal procedures.
Dr Al Maawali noted that the programme represents a key pillar in shaping the legal and professional competencies of students in line with legislative developments and the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 in the fields of legislation and judiciary.
Dr Wael bin Saif al Hinai, Director of the Teaching and Training Department at the institute, said the programme places strong emphasis on enhancing the analytical and practical capabilities of national graduates.
Since its establishment through the end of 2025, the Higher Institute of the Judiciary has produced 309 graduates comprising judges and Public Prosecution members. It has also delivered 1,355 training programmes benefiting more than 26,000 trainees from various legal institutions and government entities, underscoring its vital role in supporting the rule of law and developing national expertise. – ONA
